Number of tourists visiting Khumbu climbs this year

 

 

Salleri, Solukhumbu – The number of tourists visiting Khumbu area, the gateway to the world's highest mountain, Mt Everest, has crossed three thousand in the month of Fagun (February 13 to March 14) this year. 


Three thousand two hundred and forty four visitors from various countries visited Khumbu in this month. The highest number of visitors came from America. Three hundred and seventy eight Americans, 354 Britons, 307 Germans and 270 Chinese tourists visited Khumbu in the month of Fagun, Chief of the Sagarmatha National Park, Mishra Kaji Tamang, said. 


Seventy nine tourists came from the SAARC member countries excluding Nepal while one each came from Bangladesh, Croatia, Cambodia and Lithuania. 


The number of foreign tourists visiting Khumbu was 1,590 in Fagun 2072 BS, and 2,717 in the same month in 2073 BS. 


The Sagarmatha National Park collected revenue Rs 8.58 million from tourists visiting the park in the month of Fagun this year. The Park charges entry fee of Rs 3,390 per person from foreign nationals and Rs 1,695 from visitors from SAARC member countries.
