Afghanistan posts a 196-run target for Nepal

Kathmandu - Afghanistan posted a 196-run target for Nepal in the final match under the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers for the Asian region in Singapore.

Elected to bat first after winning the toss, the Afghanistan team secured 195 runs in 46.5 overs in the stipulated 50 overs at the loss of all wickets.

A good partnership between Afghanistan's openers Ibrahim Zadran and Naveed Obaid contributed a lot. Zadran hit a century by making 101 runs from 114 balls with five sixes and seven boundaries. Likewise, Obaid scored 22 runs.

For Nepal, Shahab Alam took 4 wickets while Dipendra Singh Airee claimed 3 and captain Sandeep Lamichhane and Pawan Sarraf took a wicket each. In the previous four matches played under the double round robin format, Nepal conceded a 141-run defeat at the hands of Afghanistan.

Nepal is under pressure to defeat Afghanistan with a huge margin to secure its birth in the world cup. Or it has to be eliminated from the race.
