Presidential election today

Kathmandu - The election to the post of the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal is being held today. 
Voting to elect the President is taking place from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in the voting centre on the premises of Federal Parliament Building, New Baneshwor. 


Incumbent President Bidya Devi Bhandari and former lawmaker Kumari Laxmi Rai are vying for the post of the President. 
An electoral college comprised of members of the federal parliaments and province assembly members would cast vote to elect the President. 
Spokesperson of the Election Commission Nabaraj Dhakal said that a total of 880 voters would cast vote in the presidential election. 
As per the Constitution of Nepal, the term of the President shall be five years.
