Inaeuwa The agenda of tourism development and promotion in Dharan of Sunsari has long been on discussion but never materialized as of today.
But, with the local government in place, Dharan sub-metropolis has started carrying out on-site study to that end. The tourism promotion committee of the sub-metropolis has focused its exploration on trekking route and home stay in Dharan under its first phase, shared Press Coordinator of Dharan Sub-Metropolis, Yogesh Babu Kafle.
The trekking route study team has initiated discussion with locals from organic village of Dharan-4, Basantatar to Serge via Danabari Gadhi Thumki on the feasibility aspects of trekking and home stay.
Tourism Promotion Committee member Lekhmani Jimi said that appropriate places have been identified for eco trek and cannoning from Danabari Hardiya to Namje via Sege village.
The Danabari has become a popular destination for hiking of late. The scenic beauty of Dharan and Terai plains can be observed from the viewpoint here.
One can enjoy a daylong hiking up to Danabari while a three-day two-night package of trekking can also be an attractive offer along the route.
In the potential areas identified for tourism promotion, public awareness programme followed by development of physical infrastructure will be undertaken, shared committee co-coordinator Kishor Thulung.
It would be a good source of income for the tourism entrepreneurs if Dharan is developed a tourism hub by exploring its potential for the same.
