Kathmandu - Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Rajendra Chhetri returned home Saturday after taking part in the second Chiefs of Defence Conference of Troops Contributing Countries (TCC) held on July 7 in the United Nations (UN) Headquarters, New York, USA.
After the Conference, the Army Chief visited the United Kingdom (UK) at the official invitation of General Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter, Chief of the General Staff of the UK Army, the Nepalese Army said in a statement.
During his New York trip, the Army Chief had separate meetings with Under Secretary General of Directorate of Peace Keeping Operation, Military Advisor of the Secretary- General and Force Commander for the UN peacekeeping mission for Congo and South Sudan.
Likewise, during his UK visit, he had separate meetings with the UK Army Chief, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, Lieutenant General Nicholas Pope and Gurkha Brigade's Colonel Commander and acquired information of modernization process going on in the UK army. He had also visited the UK army units including the 19 Regiment Royal Artillery.
Chief of General Staff Baldev Raj Mahat welcomed the Army Chief upon his arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, while the NA contingent offered a guard of honour.
The NA hopes that such high-level visits would help further strengthen the bilateral ties with the neighbouring countries and military relations with the UN and UK army.
