UML Gen Convention preparations on war footing (with photos)

CHITWAN: An open space on the banks of the Narayani River in Narayanghat, Chitwan is being readied for the Tenth National General Convention of the main opposition party CPN-UML. 

As many as 40 workers were seen busy when Ratopati correspondents reached there at 10 PM on Wednesday. Some were indulged in erecting the grand stage while others were decorating the surroundings. 

According to Raj Kumar Patel, a contractor who has been assigned to construct the site, 40 workers and artisans have been involved in the construction works since Sunday. “The stage will have been completed by Thursday evening,” he said. 

Patel shared that the cost for the construction of the stage is estimated at Rs 9 million. 

UML to host 500,000 attendants

The party claims to host as many as 500,000 people including party leaders, cadres, delegates, guests from home and abroad and the general public during the opening session. 

The convention is just a day away, meaning the opening session will be held on Friday.
