SC orders against Janamorcha’s decision to suspend Krishna Thapa as Gandaki lawmaker

Thapa was suspended as lawmaker on May 12

KATHMANDU, June 6: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order to allow Krishna Thapa, who was suspended as the Gandaki Province Assembly member, to discharge his duty as the province lawmaker. 

A single bench of Justice Dr Kumar Chudal issued an interim order to allow Thapa to work as a member of the province assembly.

The bench also issued a directive to the defendant to submit a written response  on why Thapa had been taken action, within 15 days. 

The bench ruled that Thapa should not be removed from the post of member of Gandaki Province Assembly as per Article 35 of the Political Parties Act-2017.

Thapa, who was elected from the Rastriya Janamorcha, was suspended as the province assembly member after he refused to support the chief minister candidate proposed by the opposition alliance on May 12.
