COVID-19: 5,316 new cases, 7,219 recoveries reported on Wednesday

101 more people succumb to coronavirus

KATHMANDU, June 2: As many as 5,316 more people were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours as of Wednesday afternoon. 

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 4,524 cases were detected through the real time polymerase chain reaction tests and 792 others through the antigen tests. 

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley reported a total of 1,456 new cases including the 969 cases in Kathmandu district while 306 in Lalitpur and 181 others were confirmed in Bhaktapur district. 

The ministry shared that 7,219 COVID-19 patients got over the disease on Wednesday. With this, Nepal’s coronaviru recovery rate stands at 80.8 percent of the total infections. 

Another 101 people, however, died of the disease, said the ministry.
