Govt, Tharuwan agitators sign six-point pact, charges against Resham Chaudhary to be withdrawn

KATHMANDU, June 1: The government and the Tharuhat / Tharuwan Joint Struggle Committee have reached a six-point agreement. According to the agreement signed on Tuesday, the charges against Resham Chaudhary and others will be withdrawn. 

The talks teams from both sides -- government team led by Lila Nath Shrestha and agitator’s team by Rukmini Chudhary --- wrapping up the six-point deal, agreed to take constitutional and legal initiatives for the release of Dhaniram Chudhary, Resham Chaudhar and Laxamn Chaudhary. 

As per the agreement, the government has agreed to provide relief to the families of those people who lost their lives during the Tharuhat / Tharuwan movement, make necessary arrangements for the families of the martyrs and treat the wounded ones.

The agreement was signed by Minister for Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Lilanath Shrestha, Prime Minister’s foreing affairs advisor Rajan Bhattarai and Bhagwati Chaudhary on behalf of the government  while Rukmini Chaudhary, Premlal Chaudhary, Padmanarayan Chaudhary, Prabhat Chaudhary and Chanda Prasad Chaudhary from the agitators. 

The joint struggle committee had been demanding the release of Resham Chaudhary for a long time.
