NA by-poll in Lumbini Province today, voting underway (Photo Feature)

KATHMANDU, May 31: The Election Commission (EC) is holding the by-election for a vacant seat in the National Assembly (NA) from Lumbini Province, on Tuesday. According to the poll body, voting is taking place between 9 AM and 3 PM. 

Voting for the vacant seat is underway at the Dang, Ghorahi-based polling center. 

An electoral college of 300 voters --- 83 province assembly members and 217 chiefs and deputy chiefs of local units -- are electing a member for the upper house. 

The seat has fallen vacant after the erstwhile lawmaker Chandra Bahadur Khadka, who was elected from the CPN (Maoist Center), joined the CPN-UML. 

Ruling UML has fielded Khadka while Drigha Narayan Pandey of the opposition alliance including the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Janamorcha, is one the race.
