Nepal reports higher COVID-19 recoveries compared to new cases for two days in a row

KATHMANDU, May 27: Nepal has started witnessing a higher number of COVID-10 recoveries in a day compared to the new cases. According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Nepal’s new case-count on Thursday stood at 6,939 while 7,226 corona patients won their battle against the disease during the same time period. Earlier on Wednesday, the ministry confirmed 6,716 recoveries and 6,714 new cases. 

With this, Nepal has so far reported 542,256 cases of the disease including 77.2 percent recoveries. As many as 116,476 people, however, are receiving treatment for the disease, the ministry said. Of the active cases, 108,626 are staying isolated at their homes, 7.580 undergoing treatment at institutional isolation centers, 1,645 are at ICUs and 457 others are on ventilator support. 

Meanwhile, the Kathamandu Valley reported a slight increase in the number of new cases on Thursday. Including 1,738 cases in Kathmandu, 364 in Lalitpur and 265 in Bhaktapur districts, the Valley added 2,367 new cases. 

Similarly, 106 more people died of COVID-19 taking the country’s death tally to 6,951.
