Nepal reports 6,135 recoveries, 8,520 new cases and 203 deaths on Friday

KATHMANDU, May 14: Officials confirmed 8,520 new cases of the coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours. With 8,467 people being diagnosed with the virus through the 20,948 RT-PCR tests and 53 others through the 530 antigen tests, Nepal’s overall case tally has soared to 439,658. 

Meanwhile, Nepal saw steady growth in the number of day-wise recoveries from coronavirus. On Friday, as many as 6,135 got over the illness which took the total number of recoveries to 327,653. 

According to the health ministry, as many as 203 more deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. Nepal has so far witnessed 4,669 deaths since the first fatality was confirmed on May 16 last year. 

Of the total cases confirmed, 24.41 percent patients --- 107,336--- are yet to recover from the disease, the ministry said.
