214 more corona deaths, 8960 new cases recorded in Nepal

5,505 people recover on Thurday

KATHMANDU, May 13: Officials have confirmed as many as 8,960 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours. 

As many as 19,474 PCR and 771 antigen tests were carried out to detect those cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. With this, Nepal’s COVID-19 casetally has risen to 431,191. 

Similarly, 5,055 people recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours. However, 214 people lost their lives.This takes the total number of recoveries to 321,518 and fatalities to 4,466. Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 74.6 percent. 

Among the age group of cases confirmed onThurday, people between 30 to 39 years old are the highest with 2,061 followed by 1,949 in the 20-29 age group and 1,600 in the 40-49 age group.

The total confirmed cases in isolation are 105,207 with Kathmandu constituting 31,073 of them followed by 4,753 in Bhaktapur and 6,840 in Lalitpur.Of them, 96,379 people are in home isolation while 8,828 are in institutional isolation. Furthermore, 1,381 patients are in ICU while 380 infected are in ventilator support. 

The data of infection and fatalities so far shows a positivity rate of 15.9 percent and case fatality rate of 1.3 per cent. Total death per million is 153.3.
