Shashanka Koirala calls for utilizing COVID crisis as opportunity

Kathmandu - Nepali Congress general secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala has said a crisis caused by coronavirus pandemic should be utilized as an opportunity to develop the country. In his address to a Zoom-assisted programme organized by Sushil Koirala Memorial Foundation on the occasion of the 81st birth anniversary of the late leader Sushil Koirala, the NC leader said those youth force came back to home from aboard due to COVID crisis should be encouraged to engage in agriculture, changing the crisis into opportunity, so as to make the country self-sufficient. As he stressed, the NC should prepare a roadmap for the development by predicting its possibilities.

Stating that it was the Sushil Koirala-led government which facilitated the drafting of the constitution by people’s representatives and witnessed the materialization of the dream of NC founding president, the late BP Koirala of having such constitution, he said Sushil Koirala who believed in the politics of morality was a person with simple living and high thinking. The NC general secretary, who is also the Foundation chair, said the late Koirala had proved himself as an anti-corruption leader.

Similarly, Prof Dr Jayraj Acharya remembered the late Koirala as a simple and decent leader dedicated to the politics of norms, values and principles. Acharya expressed his concern over what he said erosion of norms and values within the NC and influence of money over party ideology.
