No immediate chances of incessant rainfall: Dept of Hydrology and Meteorology

Kathmandu - Incessant rainfall will not take place although the weather remains cloudy throughout the country for some days. However, moderate and heavy rain will likely occur for brief period in some parts of the country. In the meantime, monsoon will be more active in the eastern Tarai area and the western parts of the country.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology stated that cloudy condition prevailed throughout the country at present with rainfall taking place at various places. But at times there will be normal to hot sun also. Meteorologist at the Department, Meen Kumar Aryal said continuous downpour will not take place like in the past in the next three days.

He however added that caution should be taken regarding small amount of water causing much damage as the land is weakened due to adequate rain before this. The risk of landslide and mudslide is high in such situation. Heavy rainfall taking place intermittently has triggered landslide resulting in loss of life and property in some places.

According to Meteorologist Aryal, although the monsoon low pressure system has shifted southwards from Nepal, it is still close to Nepal. It will draw even closer on Sunday and Monday increasing the chances of more rainfall in the Tarai region. Aryal said at times the weather will be sunny and at ties rainfall will occur in most parts of the country. There is still the possibility of heavy rainfall occurring at one or two places of State-1, State-2, State-5, the Gandaki State and the Sudurpaschim State.

Although a little more rainfall will take place tomorrow and the day after compared to today's, there won't be continuous rain, Aryal said. Before this, incessant rainfall occurred from July 9 to 14 and from July 19 to 21. Most parts of the country were affected by flood, landslide and inundation triggered by that rainfall. Similarly,

the western part of the country received more rainfall from July 27 to 31, but it was not continuous rain as in the past. Still then, some people died and some have gone missing due to landslide-related incidents in some places. Rescue is on. It is said less amount of rainfall than this will take place in three days from now. Heavy rainfall is predicted in some places.
