No evidence confirmed on coronavirus infection from drainage system

Kathmandu - The Ministry of Health and Population has said that there was no evidence of coronavirus infection in the waste water drainage. At a regular press briefing on Sunday, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said that though the coronavirus was spotted in the drainage, study has not proved the possibility of transmission of this virus on human being through drainage.

“Attention has been drawn towards the claim of COVID-19 infection in the sample test of capital city’s water from the drainage,” Dr Gautam said. He further said that community transmission of coronavirus cannot be claimed just because its component was found in drainage.

On the occasion, he said that Nepal Health Research Council will support the Ministry for further studies on the validity of types of virus found in the drainage. Dr Gatuam has also urged one and all not panic over the reports on confirmation of coronavirus in the water in drainage.
