Nepalis in Oman safe from COVID-19

Kathmandu -All Nepalis living in Oman are safe from COVID-19, the Embassy of Nepal in Muscat, Oman has said. It said so far no Nepali in the Gulf state has been infected with the deadly coronavirus. COVID-19 has been found in 457 people so far in Oman and two of them have died while 71 have returned home after health recovery, the Embassy stated. Nine Nepalis in various countries have died of COVID-19 so far and more than 100 are said to be infected.

The Embassy of Nepal has also stated that the Government of Oman has made preparations to announce a lockdown from today till April 24 and urged all the Nepalis there to stay indoors and not come out of the house except for very urgent work. It said arrangements have been made for online visa term extension in case the visa term of Nepalis in Oman and those who have come Nepal on leave has expired. Consular services suspended in Bahrain Meanwhile, the consular services being provided by the Embassy from Manama in Bahrain have been suspended following surge in the number of COVID-19 cases there.

The consular services have been suspended for the time being until further arrangements were made, the Embassy stated in a press release on Thursday. It said one could however obtain the consular services in emergency situation through single appointment with the Embassy.
