Development of tourism sites necessary for nation's prosperity: President Bhandari

Darchula–President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that development of the tourism sector of Sudur Paschim State was necessary for the nation's development.

Addressing the programme organised by Malikarjun Rural Municipality to offer a civic felicitation to the President, she stated that the area has a good prospects for religious tourism.

She also laid emphasis on the need of developing Sudur Paschim for the nation's prosperity.

The President opined, "This area is suitable for tourism as the route towards Mt Api, Mt Nampa and Kailash Mansarobar lies here and the area should be developed in touristic point of view."

Bhandari, who arrived in Darchula district for the first time, said there are immense potentials of tourism of the district as it lies at a shared point of three districts.

"It will help contribute to uplift eco-tourism if we preserved the mountains and forests here," the President said adding, "Our challenge is climate change. We have to pay attention for the conservation of ecology here. It is required to protect the Himalayas for the environment protection."

The President also said that better management and effective operation of Api Nampa Conservation Area declared some a decade ago is a need of the hour.

Likewise, President Bhandari assured to extend support for the development of this area in the capacity of the President.

President Bhandari, who arrived here in a helicopter, offered Pooja at Malikarjun Temple for almost 15 minutes and attended the civic felicitation programme.

\Upon her arrival, a large number of local people had welcomed the President including House of Representatives Member of Darchula district Ganesh Singh Thagunna, Chairperson of Malikarjun Rural Municipality Narendra Singh Dhami.

On the occasion, Chief Minister of Sudur Paschim State Trilochan Bhatta, vice-chairwoman of the Rural Municipality Pushpa Awasthi and others expressed their opinion.

Likewise, Rural Municipality Chairman Dhami handed over the civic felicitation letter to President Bhandari.
