Information techno hub for promoting good governance

Kailali–An information techno hub has come into operation in Dhangadhi sub-metropolis-17. Dhangadhi mayor Nripa Wod and Canadian government representative Janet Yates on Wednesday inaugurated the operation of techno hub for fostering public sector accountability in the sub-metropolis.

The techno hub would provide citizens the access to information related to infrastructure development plans, projects and progress through Infrastructure Management System (IMS). The hub is expected to contribute to the promotion of good governance as the system is equipped to enable citizens to access information about the projects being operated in the sub-metropolis, project performance and effectiveness as well as physical and financial progress.

On the occasion, mayor Wod informed that the sub-metropolis would gradually expand techno hubs at ward level to facilitate citizens in course of receiving public service. "The techno huib would also provide opportunity for citizens to monitor performance and progress of the sub-metropolis as it provides them with information about physical and financial progress of the projects and offers space for citizens' feedbacks".

Canadian representative Janet expressed her confidence that the information techno hub would help the sub-metropolis in its bid to advance good governance.

Two information techno hubs are already operational at the sub-metropolis office and its ward 15 in Dhangadhi under the 'Sustainable Use of Integrated Technology for Public Sector Accountability (SUSASAN) Project'.

The project, funded by Global Affairs Canada, is being implemented by CECI in partnership with Freedom Forum and Young Innovation in six districts of Nepal, including Kailali. The overall objective of the project is to enhance engagement of women and marginalized groups in governance and decision-making systems at local level.
