80 per cent of petroleum exploration works completed

Dailekh–Petroleum exploration work is going on at a rapid pace here. Currently, seismic survey works are underway to find out the location and quantity of petroleum reserve.

The petroleum exploration project has stated that 80 per cent of the seismic survey works were over. The then Industry Minister Matrika Yadav had formally inaugurated the exploration from Navisthan of Dailekh and the seismic survey works were carried out at 10 different locations covering around 200 kilometres area to the north and south of Navisthan.

Seismic survey works in seven places have been completed, exploration officer at the Department of Mines and Geology, Dr Ganeshnath Tripathi said.

He said it will take three months more after the completion of the survey works to study the survey results. According to Tripathi, after the study is completed the main drilling would be done about four kilometers below the ground at the potential location of petroleum reserve. Only after this it will be known the quantity of petroleum reserve.

The survey work is going on incorporating 400 square kilometres in a single line at the area. Experts' team has set up a camp at Dullu Municipality for seismic survey.

Locals are found happy with these efforts. Lawmaker Rabindra Raj Sharma shared that the exploration will materialize prosperity mission of the incumbent government.

The expected result is positive ensuring that there might be the petroleum products and gas in the area.
