Ward chair arrested on attempted rape charge

Rajbiraj–A ward chair has been arrested in Saptari on the charge of attempted rape. Laxmi Shah, the chair of Shambhunath municipality-12 who is alleged of attempting to rape a woman was arrested by the police squad from the District Police Office, Saptari this morning. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Tilak Bharati, a local woman earlier filed a complaint against him to the police. He is under investigation.

Employee held for bribery A government employee has been caught for bribery from Taitarigachhi of Rajbiraj. Government non gazetted first class officer (Nayab Subba) Nawonath Mishra posted as the ward secretary of Saptari's Mahadeva rural municipality-6 was caught red-handed while receiving Rs 200 thousands unethically from a service recipient on Tuesday evening.

A team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Itahari office arrested him from a tea shop, said CIAA information officer Gyanendra Prasad Dhakal. The accused has been kept at the CIAA Itahari office for further investigation.
