Forty-one districts to have full electrification within current fiscal year

Ghorahi–Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barshaman Pun, has said that 41 districts including Dang would have full electricity facility within the current fiscal year.

Minister Pun said that government's goal of reaching electricity access to every settlement of most of the districts of the country is going to be fulfilled as power production is increasing in the country. He said, "41 districts would be completely electrified in the first phase. Preparation is in to electrify other districts in next fiscal year."

The Energy Minister further said that a campaign has been launched to illuminate the country through alternative energy including solar and bio-gas. Speaking at a news conference organised by Press Organisation, Dang, at Ghorahi, he shared the information that although electricity has been imported from India so far, the country would reach in the phase of exporting power from next year.

Minister Pun said 8.5 per cent economic growth rate has become possible in the current fiscal year due to easy access of electricity and added that more ways of investment at agro, energy, tourism and hotel sectors have been opened as additional 1,000 MW electricity would be linked with main transmission line in coming year.

The government has been carrying out activities with a target to sell electricity to India, China and Bangladesh after producing 15,000 MW power within 10 years, he added.

The Minister also expressed hope that a national goal 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali' would be materialized soon as the government has been increasing investment for physical and human development of the country.
