U.S. truck driver arrested for threatening mass shooting

WASHINGTON–The FBI has arrested a truck driver after he threatened to commit a mass shooting at a church in Memphis in U.S. southern state of Tennessee, local media reported Tuesday.

Thomas Matthew McVicker, 38, was arrested in Indianapolis on Monday after the FBI learned from one of his friends that he was thinking about "shooting a church up" on Thursday in Memphis, said the reports.

The FBI found the man, reportedly with a history of mental illness, owns a Ruger P90 handgun. McVicker's mother said her son is being treated for schizophrenia and occasionally uses cocaine and methamphetamine, according to court documents. Dylann Roof, a white supremacist, killed nine people in a shooting at a church in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2015.
