Two dead bodies retrieved, nine still missing

Jajarkot– The dead bodies of two people buried in landslide occurred at Madkechula rural municipality-1 in Dolpa district have been retrieved today.

The dead bodies were of Dharmaraj Bohora, 43, and Chandra Kumari Sarki, according to Mudkechula rural municipality Chairperson, Dutta Bahadur Shahi.

He shared that nine people were still missing. Search and rescue works were underway but the bad weather created sheer inconvenience for the same. Landslide had occurred on Saturday afternoon. More than 15 houses in the locality were at risk of landslide effects.

Electricity service has been disrupted after the landslide swept away the pipeline of Kashil mini hydro power project. Telephone service too has been disrupted.

Due to the landslide, lands surrounding the river were swept away, posing threat to the human settlement in the locality, added Chairperson Shahi.

Those missing in the landslide are Dhanrupa Bohora, 12, of ward no 1, Sarika Bohora, 12 and Brihaspati Bohora, Suna Sarki, 13, Panche Sarki, 23, Sauni BK, 23 and Ranki Bohora, Kali Bahadur Bohora, Lava Kumar Rokaya.

The identity of a child missing in the incident is yet to be ascertained. The accident site lies some four days trek from the district headquarters Dunai.
