Siddhicharan Highway obstructed for two days

Okhaldhunga–Traffic along the Siddhicharan Highway has come to a halt as the highway has been obstructed for the past two days by a local flooded river.

As a result, hundreds of vehicles travelling between districts like Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Solukhumbu and Kathmandu and some districts of Tarai have been stuck midway stranding hundreds of passengers.

"Flooded Bhandare River has submerged the highway. We have been stuck on the way. Nearby hotels are jam-packed. We do not know how to manage food for passengers," said a vehicle driver Prashanta KC, whose vehicle has been stuck on the way.

"We are running short of money. We are going through difficulties in even surviving," said a passenger Susmita Rai.

When asked the district police office said a team led by the district police chief, Pushpa Raj Malla has added to the incident site to clear the obstructed road.
