Market and government offices waterlogged

Lahan–The market and government offices in the Siraha district headquarters have become waterlogged due to the incessant rain since last five days.

The streets and roads in Siraha have been inundated affecting the movement of people and vehicles. The then district agricultural development office, the district livestock service office, Nepal Electricity Authority Office, the District Police Office among other government offices in the district headquarters have been waterlogged due to lack of drain. Similarly, some parts of Golbazar in Siraha have been inundated with the rise in water level.

Water has accumulated and formed a huge pool on the East-West highway itself. The Area Police Office Lahan has also become waterlogged with up to three to four feet water.

Meanwhile, Chief District Officer of Siraha, Gopal Prasad Adhikari said except the waterlogged condition and inundation in some places, no loss of life and property due to water-induced disaster has been reported so far in the district. He said the security personnel have been kept on alert in flood-prone areas. Siraha is at risk of floods in the Balan, Kamala and other rivers flowing through the district.

It is still raining in Siraha district. Meanwhile, a report from Janakpurdham in Dhanusha district states that the Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City is inundated.

Streets in the city have turned into pools of water and water has entered people's houses. Similarly, government offices in Janakpurdham have been inundated.

Up to three feet high water has accumulated in the premises of the District Administration Office, the District Police Office, the District Forest Office, the Inland Revenue Office, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS)'s office, the District Post Office and the Forest Directorate Office, among a dozen offices, making it difficult to carry out office work.

The water level has risen in the Kamala river that flows through Dhanusha district increasing risk of floods.
